23 ways feminists have made the world better for women

It may seem like a bizarrely obvious statement, but somewhere between earning women the right to vote, pushing through legislation opening up universities to female students and advancing the Civil Rights movement (to name just a very few examples), feminism has indeed made life much, much better (and as a result, happier) — not just for American women, but American men as well. Far removed from the stereotypical and inaccurate image of the bra-burning activist, feminists have proven time and time again that women’s rights are human rights. And as the Declaration of Independence so elegantly points out, the ideals of life and liberty are intrinsically tied up with that third pursuit: happiness.

Friendly reminder that for the SPN season five premier, luciferiscoming trended worldwide, and P. Diddy freaked the fuck out and thought Satanists were coming onto Twitter, so he got the tag banned and trended godishere in response.

Have you ever ordered a Happy Meal? Do you remember the generic bit of plastic that accompanies each meal? Do you remember that it’s gendered?

If you have ever ordered a Happy Meal as an adult you were most likely asked…

On the rare occasion that we eat at McDonald’s these days, we still get asked this question. When my son was younger and had shoulder-length hair, the server would generally assume he was a girl and give him the “girl” toy. (The “boy” toy was often a video game or movie character he didn’t recognize, so the girl toy would usually be his preferred choice anyway.) When we spent a year outside the US, we ate at McDonald’s more often, and I don’t recall ever being asked “girl or boy” anywhere. There was generally one kind of toy in a Happy Meal, actually, not two gendered options.

from a process and logistic kind of view it makes no sense to put boy/girls toys in a happy meal … it’s so much easier to put a gender free toy in the box. which is why i don’t understand why ‘kinder schokolade’ decided to make gendered surprise eggs now -_-

Anyway i usually order happy meal if i happen to eat at mcD. Not because of those damn silly toys but the happy meal is about the right size of what i can eat in one meal and i’m not doing some diet.

what i notice is that here (not living in US) the toys are often gender free so they optimize the process in putting the toys already in the box while they are stacked. So they don’t ask people what gender the eater has, or who eats the shit anyway … cause if they would ask me i would tell them i don’t want the silly shit anyway …
